Custom wedding invitation design process

 The Ordering Process

  1. Enquire

Contact me to share the inspiration and special details of your wedding and discuss how we can capture your love story on paper. From the venue and colours, to the flowers and the dress, the weekend-long celebrations to your puppy who’s going to be a flower girl, we can add truly personal details throughout your stationery to make it extra special. We’ll also talk specifics and confirm how many invitations you’ll need and whether you require any evening invites. This can be done via a free telephone consultation or over email, whichever you prefer.

  2. Quote

I will create a custom quote with a detailed breakdown of all the artwork and printing costs involved. This is designed so that elements can be added or removed to suit your needs and budget. The price will vary depending on the quantity of custom artwork to be painted and the number of invitations you need. If you are happy with the quote a 50% deposit is required to book into my design calendar and you’ll need to send me the text details you’d like printed on your invitation suite.

  3. Design

I’ll start painting all of your custom artwork, scanning it into the computer and designing your invitation suite. Then you’ll receive a digital proof and have the opportunity to makes revisions to ensure everything is perfect prior to printing. 2 rounds of revisions are included and this is usually plenty.

  4. Print and Assemble

When the digital proof has been signed off, I’ll print and assemble your invitations and post them to you via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

  5. On the day stationery

If you’d like to continue the aesthetic from your invitations through to your on the day stationery, we can book you into my design calendar a little closer to your wedding. As a thank you for choosing me to design your wedding invitations, I am delighted to offer clients 10% discount for any on the day stationery they need.

FAQ’s

How long will it take from me ordering to receiving my invitations?

This depends on the amount of custom artwork there is to be painted, how many different paper pieces there are in your invitation suite and whether you are including envelope addressing or embellishment such as wax seals and silk ribbons. When I provide a quote I am happy to offer a timeframe and if you are looking for a super quick turnaround I may be able to offer a rush service, (depending on my availability) so it’s always worth getting in touch. I have created a general guide here.

Can I see a printed sample of my invitation suite?

To ensure the best possible print quality I work with a commercial print partner and their minimum print run is 30, so it’s not possible to print a single invitation suite. Before booking me to design your invitations I’d recommend ordering a sample invitation suite to see the quality of card, artwork and print finish.

I need a few extra invitations, can I order more?

Whilst I always advise my clients to order a few more invitations than they think they will need, it’s inevitable that sometimes you’ll need an extra one or two. I can print these for you in my studio and whilst they won’t be exactly the same as the main invitations you ordered, they are a very close match and your guests will never know the difference.

How will my stationery be packaged?

Carefully with lots and lots and lots of bubble wrap! When it comes to packing I always opt for practical over pretty as I want your stationery to arrive in perfect condition. I do try and recycle packaging wherever possible to be kinder to our planet.

Will I need to assemble my invitations when they arrive?

I offer a full white-glove assembly service, so your invitations will arrive ready to go. If you have opted for wax seals I can apply these for you, or supply them with stickers if you’d prefer to add these yourselves.

Can I work with you for on the day stationery?

Yes absolutely! If you have booked me to design your wedding invitations we can continue the aesthetic through to your wedding day with welcome signs, orders of service, confetti cones, seating charts, table numbers, guest name cards, menus, signature drinks signs - anything you can possibly imagine! We can still work together if you didn’t design your invitations with me, just get in touch to check my availability as the process may take a little longer if there is lots of custom artwork to be painted.

Do you work with couples outside of the UK?

Yes, all the time! I have lots of experience working with clients in America, Europe and beyond and am happy to create your invitation suite in different languages if required. I’d recommend starting the process a little sooner if your stationery will be shipped abroad.
